If "x" is the price of a pencil and "y" the price of a copy book. We can write

1x+1y=16,5    equation (1)

6x+2y=45 equation (2)

from (1)  y= 16,5-x

so   6x+2(16,5-x)=45

4x=45-33

x=12/4=3 this the price of a pencil

and the price of a copy book is: y=16,5-3=13,5

p = 12/4

p = 3 Rs

p + c = 16,5

c = 16,5 - 3

c = 13,5 Rs
