This advertising  dates probably from early 1960s.
I find it rather shocking because of the message that it passes on.
"The chef does everything but cook - that's what wifes are for!" and also "I'm giving my wife a Kenwood chef"
What does it mean?
1) The one who has the economic power in a couple is the man. He also decides what to do with the money and whether a purchse is worthed or not.
2) A wife is obviously considered like a private slave : she is there for the cooking,... and the washing, the cleaning, the nursing , all wonderful tasks that every woman dreams of! But a wife must also be attractive : the ad shows a made up woman with long polished finger nails and tidy hair . She relies on her man.

I think this kind of ad shows how the mentalities evolved in 50 years.
